-0/3-/2008       Jonah House Community

We are currently seeking applicants for the Jonah House this coming fall. If you are interested in being a part of the Jonah House Community, please contact Bonnie Hofmeyer at (804) 648.2287 for more information. Or you may also visit the volunteer opportunities link on our website for more information.

It is hard to believe but the Jonah House Community is beginning its 6th year in Oregon Hill! Four young adults have committed to live in community together for the next year as caring neighbors to our inner-city community. This year, we welcome Joey, Katie, Caite, & Chino to the Jonah House community!

The Jonah House project, the first SynerGeo initiative, provides an opportunity for its residents to experience compassionate living, creative outreach, and hands-on learning. Each person not only lives in the house but works with one or more of our initiatives which provide services to Oregon Hill and surrounding communities. The Jonah House residents are AmeriCorps members.

-0/9-/2006       AmeriCorp grant awarded for Fourth Year!

We are pleased to announce that once again SynerGeo is a recipient of a grant from AmeriCorps and the Corporation for National and Community Service. This generous grant enables us to fund 8 AmeriCorps member positions this year. AmeriCorps members work full or part-time with one of our SynerGeo Initiatives. They receive a small stipend for their work as well as an education voucher at the end of their term of service.
The goal of AmeriCorps is to engage more Americans in community service and to help young adults develop a life-style of service.
SynerGeo is proud to be a part of this significant program.
